Meet Ms. Elizabeth Brose Pre-K Full Day Program

Friday February 10th

Happy Friday,
PreK has been busy busy busy this week. On top of our usual things we have also begun talking about dental health since February is dental health month. We have read a few different stories about going to the dentist and taking care of our teeth. Our favorite book so far has been Make Way For Tooth Decay. In the book we have learned many new dental words like plaque, tooth decay, saliva, and cavity just to name a few. We have also started a few Valentine's Day projects.
Our Jesus Time story for the week was A Forgiving Father. We learned about a man who had two sons. The younger son asked for the money that was promised to him one day. He took the money and moved far away and spent it all on silly things. The son got hungry and found a job taking care of pigs. When taking care of the pigs he so was so hungry that he thought about eating the pigs food but then remembered the servants at his father's house. They were never hungry. The son felt sorry for going away and spending all of his money on foolish things. He thought maybe if he asked for forgiveness he could work for his father so that he would not be hungry any more. On his way home the father saw him coming and was so happy his son was coming home he ran out to meet him. He still loved his son and forgave him for his foolishness. We are like the son. Sometimes we go out and do foolish things that God would not like. As long as we feel sorry and ask God for forgiveness he will give it to us. He is our Forgiving Father.
The letter of the week was letter S. We used our letter charts to talk about letter S words, practiced writing it, listing words that start with S (we thought of a lot), we made S words with our wood pieces, read through our letter S book and they read previous letter books to me, made our letter S wheel, and made our letter S page for our alphabet books.
A few quick things:
  • Registration for next year has begun. If you would like to register for next year I recommend you do it sooner rather than later because the Kindergarten class usually fills up quickly. You can pick up an application in the school office.
  • Sunday February 12th is the next family night out. This time it is at Mannons of Ridgefield. This is a great way to get a yummy meal and help out the school. Simply dine in or take out from Mannons of Ridgefield on Sunday between 12:00PM and 10:00PM. When you pay the bill present the voucher that came home earlier in the week (more copies are available outside the school office) and a percentage of the bill will go to ILS. Bill must be paid with cash or check only.
  • Next Tuesday is Valentine's Day. If your child would like to bring in valentines I ask that you send in one for every student. There are 11 students in the class and their names are; Katherine, Nicolas, Kieran, Evan, Anselm, Sophia, Anthony, Gabrielle, Anna, Luke, and Warren. It is totally up to you if you would like to send in valentines. It is optional.
  • Don't forget to try and sell some Munson's chocolates to help with the playground fund.
  • Invitations/ RSVP cards for Swinging into Spring came home. Consider having a fun night out with friends. There will be dinner and dancing and an auction. The proceeds will also go to the playground fund.
  • Our class will be working on a special project to be auctioned off. As part of our special project that the class will be working on to auction off I have a request. Could you please start collecting and sending in small items that you have around the house. Things that you no longer want or need. For example a random puzzle piece that you no longer have the rest of the pieces for, slightly broken play jewelery that can't be worn, a matchbox car with a broken tire, markers that are dried up, things that you would see in an ISPY book. Be creative. Nothing too large please. Also, please do not go out and purchase things. I am asking this as a favor and do not expect it to come as an expense to you.----you can start sending in items any time. We will have to start working on it soon so that it is completed for March 23rd.

Have a fantastic weekend and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to get in touch with me.
