2nd Grade
* Welcome to my website! *
My name is Kate Marino and this is my second year teaching at Immanuel Lutheran School. I graduated from Quinnipiac University with a Masters of Arts in Education and Bachelors in Psychology. I previously worked at Parker Farms School in Wallingford, CT. There I student taught in 1st grade and substituted in grades K through 5. I am extremely excited to begin my year here at ILS! * * Friday News * *
- - In religion this week we read about Saul, who at first was not a believer of God. That changed when God came and spoke to Saul and showed Saul that He is our true God and loves us. Saul then believed in God, changed his name to Paul, and began spreading the word of God to others.
- This week in reading and writing we finished up our unit on poetry and are now reviewing different story elements we have worked on this year. We began be reviewing the parts of a story and identifying character traits.
- In math we have been exploring numbers to 1,000! We have been adding 3 digit numbers, reading 3 digit numbers, and finding patterns in 3 digit numbers. Next week we will subtract 3 digit numbers and have a math test on Thursday, June 9.
- In science we began our unit on dinosaurs. We learned that there were many different types of dinosaurs that lived a long time ago. Like animals today there were many different types of dinosaurs, different sized dinosaurs and dinosaurs that ate, different things.
- This week in Social Studies we began hearing about the history of our country. We learned how our country started and how we fought for our freedom from Great Britain during the Revolutionary War.
- Field day is this Monday, June 6. Students may be in casual dress and should wear their teams color. Check the list to see what color to wear!!

- Our class party will be Monday, June 13! It will start around 1:15 and all are welcome to come!!!
- Please make sure that students bring a back pack to school every day, even the last day!!! We will be cleaning out our desks and sending home lots of work\materials up until the last day of school. Thank you!!!
